Kimberley Hayes
According to her mother and grandmother, Kimberley
has been moving since inception. "She began dancing and moving before she could walk and
has yet to stop... she eats up the stage." - USDAN
At three years old, she began her first
yoga classes with her mother. Kimberley's dance career began at the tender
age of seven years old. After winning several talent shows, Kimberley's
dance education expanded from The Dance Studio to Peridance, The Clark
Center, Mark Morris Dance Center, USDAN Summer Intensives, The Joffrey
Ballet School and LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts / Music & Art,
among numerous others. Kimberley received a scholarship to attend The
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre as a full time student. Immediately
following, in 1998 she graduated from Brooklyn College, CUNY, and in
2002, she began her Pilates training. She trained through The Kane
School of Core Integration and received her mat certification in 2003
. In 2003, she taught at the Broadway Dance Center, Djoniba Dance and
Drum Centre, White Wave Dance Theatre and the YWCA. By early 2004,
while training at the Kane School, Kimberley taught pilates mat and
reformer classes at New York Sports Club for two years. During that
time, she was the first pilates instructor for the Fort Greene Fitness/Crunch
Fitness Club. Prior to opening her own studio, she was hired to teach
apparatus private sessions for The LA/Reebok Sport Club and was invited
to work as a personal trainer for Equinox. While teaching, training
and developing her business, Kimberley received her advanced certification
in the Pilates' Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair and High Barrel at
The Kane School in 2006. On September 1, 2006, she launched the first
pilates studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY.
